In early discussions on this project, we quickly agreed the performer should be ‘duplicated’ in both the music composition and the actual visuals of the advert. The RC-600 loops up to six layers of your playing, so we had Quinn play six different musical parts in various places of the set.
If merging six Quinn’s wasn’t enough of a challenge, I suggested a continous one-shot sequence – using the amazing Milo motion control rig at Clapham Road Studios. This really enhances the feeling of watching a live performance.
A previs of the camera path was then created, and tested during the tech rehearsal. This facilated a very fast setup on the actual shoot. Finally, a serious amount of rotoscoping work combined the 6 camera takes to create the final result!
